IBRTC, the Integrated Biosciences Research Training Centre

About

Training, taught by working researchers.

The Integrated Biosciences Research Training Centre runs the teaching: supervision, workshops, bootcamps and the research development meetings, together with the fees for them. It is the companion of the Centre for Immunology, Genetics, and Systems Biology, and it exists so that the Centre's scientific record and its money are kept in separate books.

Who does what

The split is simple. You pay IBRTC for teaching. CISBM keeps your research record. Neither reaches into the other.

IBRTC

  • The supervision agreement, and the fee on it
  • Workshop, bootcamp and meeting places
  • Receipts, confirmations, refunds and payments to supervisors

CISBM

  • Membership, progression levels and councils
  • Your participation record and research activities
  • The journal, the mailbox, and the free Participation and Integrity Agreement

Your agreement is with your supervisor

Supervision is a personal arrangement between you and the supervisor who gives it. They provide the academic judgement and they are answerable for it; IBRTC records the agreement and collects the fee on their behalf. IBRTC does not supervise anybody and employs no supervisor.

Being supervised, or taking a workshop, grants no membership, no affiliation and no authorship. What it may earn is a progression level, and that is the Centre's to decide, from the participation record the Centre keeps.

One sign-in

There is no separate IBRTC account and no second password. You sign in at the Centre, and this site verifies that. Signing out ends both. If you have a CISBM membership you already have everything you need here.
